When Charles Thenier first decides to hunt and kill the hit-and-run driver who caused the death of his son, he sees it as a kind of divine retribution. Gradually, however, the anticipation of his revenge becomes more and more pleasurable until, face to face with his victim, Thenier finds himself reluctant to end the chase.
