The Mystery of Mount McKinley. The second in the series about mountaineering achievements travels to Alaska in an attempt to unravel the controversy surrounding who was the first to reach the summit of North America's highest peak, Mount McKinley. The account, part detective story, part farce, includes alleged ascents by Dr Frederick Cook in 1906, then a group of Alaskan miners fuelled by coffee and doughnuts, and in 1913, Hudson Stuck, Archdeacon of the Yukon.
