Reputations: Muhammad Ali: More than Just a Boxer?

on BBC Two England

In 1964 Cassius Clay delivered two knockout punches to America. He beat Sonny Liston, against all expectations, for the heavyweight title, then the next day he announced that he was rejecting his "slave name" and embracing the Nation of Islam. Following his refusal to be drafted to Vietnam, he was branded a traitor, received the maximum jail sentence and had his licence withdrawn.
