Profile in Music
Winner of the 1975 Classical Music Programme category of the Emmy Awards
This is the first time that a BBC music programme has received an Emmy Award: and in this case there were two - one for American opera singer BEVERLY SILLS, the other for BBC television producer, PATRICIA FOY.
' It was the longest night of my life,' says BeverJy When people claim that she was an ' overnight' success. In fact she started out, aged three, on radio, progressing very slowly to the City Opera. The ' Super Star' of the operatic world talks to Bernard Levin and sings arias from some of her most famous roles.
