A programme about what makes the sound of the singing voice and how that sound can convey different emotions. Peter Pears discusses vocal colour, in a lesson on the two tenor arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni , with his teacher Lucie Manen.
Professor D. B. Fry of University College, London, talks about the acoustics of vocal tone and Dr G. M. Ardran of the Nuffield Institute, Oxford, demonstrates an aspect of the larynx in action.
