Over the Edge: Desperate Dan

on BBC Two England

The first of six thought-provoking documentaries exploring issues central to the lives of disabled people.
DAN is the Disabled People's Direct Action Network, a civil rights movement which is conducting a non-violent campaign of civil disobedience to attract attention to the issue of equal rights for disabled people. Shot over the first months of this year, the programme follows activists as they handcuff themselves to buses and chain themselves to trains in London and Cardiff in an effort to make their voices heard. in this glimpse of the everyday lives of people involved in the movement, Over the Edge reveals a picture of disabled individuals who are far removed from the stereotype of passive, wheelchair-bound victims.
