Lorin Maazel conducts the New Philharmonia Orchestra
leader Emanuel Hurwitz
The newly appointed Musical Director of the Cleveland Orchestra and Associate Principal Conductor of the New Philharmonia Orchestra describes how it is that music has the power to evoke in him a strong and personal response.
To illustrate this he conducts excerpts from Bizet's "Carmen", Holst's "The Planets", Mahler's Fifth Symphony, Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale", Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite", Varese's "Ionisation", Wagner's "Gotterdammerung" and Bach's Suite No 3.
