BBC4 on BBC2: The Voynlch Mystery

on BBC Two England

Documentary on the mysterious Voynich Manuscript, which has thwarted the best analytical brains ever since it was unearthed in an Italian monastery in 1912 by Wilfrid Voynich , an antiquarian book dealer from London. With 238 pages written in an unknown language, and peppered with crude botanical, astrological and anatomical paintings, no-one has worked out what it means or what the book is about.
The programme tells the story of the manuscript and of the mysterious man who discovered it, journeying into the worlds of espionage, alchemy, hertoalism and the supernatural.
