' MOODS MODERNISTIC'

on BBC Home Service Basic

View in Radio Times

Music for modems, featuring Jack Payne with his Orchestra,
Peggy Cochrane , Bruce Trent , and Stephane Grappelly. Produced bv David Miller
These ' Music for Moderns ' programmes set out to keep pace with the very latest fashions in up-to-date gay music-making. Of particular interest this evening will be a performance of the theme of Richard Addinsell 's ' Warsaw Concerto ', written in the first place for the film Dangerous Moonlight.
The concerto quickly took the popular imagination, and has proved one of the rare examples of a piece of film music that can stand on its own. Wherever the film was shown hundreds of people wrote demanding where the original concerto could be obtained.
Richard Addinsell has composed musical scores for many other popular British films, including Fire Over England, South Riding, The Amateur Gentleman, and Goodbye, Mr. Chips.
