Bus Stop Holiday
Singing ' Ten men went to mow' and other songs, 33 children went on holiday in a bus. They started from Deptford Adventure Play-ground and they were mostly from families in temporary accommodation around the play-ground - homeless families and families between homes. Teachers and youth leaders started the ' Noah's Ark Children's Venture ' to take groups of deprived children to a house in Norfolk for a week's holiday - swimming, sailing, camping and jumping about on a friendly farmer's haystack. Back home, one mother said, ' I think it's a marvellous idea. They've got the freedom of almost everything they can think of; and it gives me freedom as well to sort my own mind out at the same time.'
