Roger Baxter , a 12-year-old American son of divorced parents, now lives with his mother in London - in luxury but without love. Deeply disturbed emotionally, Roger has a speech impediment and at his new school he meets speech therapist Dr Roberta Clemm , with whom he strikes up an immediate friendship.
Patricia Neal plays Dr Clemm, and Scott Jacoby , Roger, in this moving story of a boy whose natural spontaneity is being crippled by a lack of affection.
