The conducting of the BBC Orchestra which will provide the greater part of programmes devoted to serious and light classical orchestral music will be shared by Sir Adrian Boult and Clarence Raybould.
Clarence Raybould is well known to listeners as a musician of eclectic tastes for his repertoire includes not only most of the masterpieces of classical- and romantic music, but also a great deal of contemporary music It will be remembered that early this year he conducted the first performance in its entirety of Hindemith's Mathis the Painter at Queen s Hall with great success.
