Probation

on BBC Two England

The Lifer
In 1973 Chris was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and robbery.
In 1983 he came out on parole, supervised in the community by a probation officer.
A year later he was back serving his life sentence, not because he had killed again, but because of a motoring offence. The film follows his probation officer's fight to keep Chris and his girlfriend going as they wait for the Home Secretary to decide whether he will ever again be released.
