To Sing Our Own Song - The Philippines
Benigno Aquino was shot and killed when he stepped off the plane at Manila airport - and the world began to take notice of the Philippines. The Philippines are made up of 7,000 beautiful islands set in the South China Sea. Its people are charming, intelligent and creative - its politics have been harsh, violent and dictatorial. President Marcos has just survived an election -he has been in power for almost 20 years. Tonight Senator Jose Diokono , once Secretary of Justice, describes the methods that President Marcos has employed to hold on to power, and the savage guerrilla war which has developed in opposition to his policies and his methods.
