Field-Marshal Lord Carver, GCB, CBE, DSO, MC, talks to Desmond Wilcox
Field-Marshal Lord Carver is thought - even by his critics - to be Britain's cleverest and most able soldier since the Second World War. A descendant of the first Duke of Wellington, he never wanted to join the army - but he rose to the very top job of all, Chief of the Defence Staff.
Tonight he talks to Desmond Wilcox about his personal history, his military career and some of the important political and military issues with which he has been concerned, including Northern Ireland, Rhodesia and civil insurgency.
