The offshore oil industry is facing multi-billion-pound problem -what to do with production platforms now the North Sea fields are beginning to run dry. Environmentalists and fishermen claim the platforms constitute a serious ecological hazard and are demanding that they be dismantled before they turn the seas into a watery junkyard and threaten marine life.
