The Bahamas, 1940. American sculptor Tom Hudson has ' opted out', retiring to the Bahamas and an idyllic, if rather boozy, lifestyle. With World War II raging round his island retreat, Hudson relives aspects of his life and is eventually drawn into the mainstream of the war.
