Experiment: Gyroscope

on BBC Television

What makes gyroscopes behave as they do? Why are they so important that almost every ship, aeroplane or rocket carries them? This programme shows that without gyroscopes there would be no automatic pilots, torpedoes couldn't be fired from moving ships, and space travel would be just a dream.
