Dorothy Evans , who is speaking in favour of equal pay for equal work, is General Secretary to the National Association of Women Civil Servants. She is a barrister, stood as Parliamentary candidate for Paddington in 1931, and is President of the Association of Women Clerks and Secretaries.
Gladys Burlton , who is opposing the motion, was one of the first university women to go into business. She now runs the Burlton Institute and has practised for twelve years as a business consultant, specialising in the training of shop assistants. She is the author of various books on the technique of salesmanship and a member of the Council of the Industrial Welfare Society.
