The Great Philosophers

on BBC Two England

The last in a 15-part history of western philosophy Wittgenstein with John Searle , Professor of Philosophy at the University of California in Berkeley
This final programme brings the story of western philosophy abreast of our own times. Its central figure is Wittgenstein, Austrian by birth but British by adoption. He transformed people's conception of the role of language in human thinking. His influence now spreads far and wide beyond philosophy, and continues to grow.
