The American composer John Adams celebrated his 50th birthday last year. Adams talks about the development of his music from early minimalist roots to an accessible style which draws on a huge variety of influences. With contributions from many of his collaborators and friends, including conductors Edo de Waart, Michael Tilson Thomas and Simon Rattle , director Peter Sellars , poets Alice Goodman and June Jordan and violinist Gidon Kremer.
