A series of six programmes presented by Jonathan Miller
4: How Do You Feel?
'I get to the stage where, if I could have bought a gun, I'd shoot him.... then I'll go into another room and sit and cry for a couple of hours. I don't know what else to do.' Barbara cares for her husband Vincent, who has suffered several strokes.
She's courageous enough to admit to feelings shared by thousands of carers - anger and resentment followed by guilt and self-pity. The irony is that if you're a carer, you're expected to be the strong one, even when life is intolerable. So where do you turn for the emotional support you need?
