Adolf Hitler dreamt of commemorating himself with the creation of a great art gallery dedicated to the glory of the Third Reich.
Historian Norman Stone traces the story of plunder and dubious purchases as the collection was amassed, and the fate of contemporary artists under his official art policy, which virtually outlawed all modern art in Germany for over a decade. The film includes: Madeleine Duke , victim of Nazi looting; Hans Herbst , a buyer for the collection; Rodolfo Siviero , Italian resistance officer;
Albert Speer , Hitler's architect; Wynford Vaughan-Thomas , war correspondent.
