TENNESSEE Williams is one of the top playwrights today. A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Rose Tattoo and The Glass Menagerie are known all over the world.
His autobiography, Memoirs, was published in the USA in 1975 and is due to come out here next-month. It is an unusually frank book. In this programme, Melvyn Bragg talks to Tennessee Williams about his life and work.
Included in the programme are scenes from his first major success, The Glass Menagerie, and A Streetcar Named Desire.
