To lovely Leslie Calvin, lone survivor of a wartime sea disaster, and suffering from a nervous breakdown, the prospect of a complete rest on a remote plantation seems the ideal way to restore her health. But the strangeness of her surroundings and the behaviour of the people who are supposed to befriend her lead to startling developments.
