Restoring the Ambassadors

on BBC Two England

The Ambassadors by German painter Hans Holbein is a Renaissance masterpiece, a double portrait from 1533 which was painstakingly restored by conservation staff at London's
National Gallery. Next week it takes pride of place at an exhibition there. This programme, narrated by Patricia Wheatley, tells the story of the painting's reconstruction and restoration.
