Classic Singles

on BBC Radio 2

2/8. As the pop single struggles to secure its niche in the digital era, Radio 2 singles out eight 45rpm records - all released between

Tonight jazz artist Jamie Cullum enthuses over Jimi Hendrix 's big heavy hit All along the Watchtower. Written by Bob Dylan , the 1968 single gave the acid-rock guitarist/ singer a fourth trip to the UK top ten, while in America it proved to be his only Top 40 appearance.
