Next week sees the start of a new series of Going to Pot, but in the last of this season's editions of Gardeners' World there really is plenty to do in the garden. Now is the right time for planting miniature fruit trees. These are ideal for both the small garden and for growing in containers on the patio. Even now there are vegetables which can be sown and grown over winter either in the cold greenhouse or under cloches; and some of the myths of winter digging are exploded. It is also time for lifting dahlias and storing geraniums and fuchsias, and there's how to construct an easy-to-build compost bin.
