The Book Programme

on BBC Two England

Introduced by Robert Robinson
In John Hillaby 's first book Journey through Britain he established himself as one of the best-selling travel writers, and in his new book, Journey through Love, he writes about some of his favourite walks in Britain, and about the most difficult ordeal of his life -the long American walk he took to help overcome the despair he suffered after the death of his wife Tilly. He talks of his love of walking and the people and places he has written about.
Also this week, a look at the work of Kingsley Amis - from the angry 50s of Lucky Jim to the strangely re-ordered contemporary world of his new novel The Alteration.
