Befitting his role in Parliament, the Speaker lives 'above the shop', in a palatial residence where he entertains the country's great and famous. The
Speaker is third in order of precedence of all the commoners in the land. In the Chamber, he alone decides who shall speak in a debate. It is his personality which must command the respect and obedience of MPs.
