Doctors to Be

on BBC Two England

A series of eight programmes telling the personal stories of ten would-be doctors. Filming for this project began in 1984 and the programmes reveal what leads people to apply for medicine, how the selection process works, and how a British medical school trains doctors for the difficult work they are going to face.
Trial by Interview. Seven extremely nervous candidates at St Mary's Hospital Medical School in west London are trying to find convincing answers to the question: "Why do you want to be a doctor?" Tonight's film follows their fortunes as they face the selection panel. Executive producer Robin Brightwell Series producer Edward Briffa
