Classic drama from the late director Karel Reisz , who died in November 2002, adapted by Alan Sillitoe from his own novel. Devoted to the pursuit of pleasure, factory worker Arthur Seaton spends his time drinking, brawling and chasing women. But when he falls for the modest, old-fashioned Doreen Gretton , Arthur is forced to reassess his values.
