Tonight's French Film Classic is the first showing on network television of Jacques Becker's re-creation of the bohemian life of the Parisian demi-monde of 1919. The project was 'willed' to Becker by Max Ophuls, whose "La Ronde" will be shown tomorrow on BBC2.
