Pick of The Philpott File

on BBC Two England

Trevor Philpott reports on The Merry Widows of Miami
In Miami they believe widowhood should be fun.
It is a fact of modem life that most women are going to outlive their men and in Florida there is a way of life devoted to the belief that widowhood is a time of opportunity. If there have to be widows -much better that they were rich than poor, better that they were warm than cold and much better that they were merry than miserable. Here are several hundred-thousand of the late-flowering women of Miami in full blossom.
