Fair Shares for the Rich?
Next Tuesday the Chancellor presents his budget against a background of continuing economic difficulties. But taxes, and the recession itself, have a very unequal effect on Britain's population. Twenty-five per cent of the country's wealth is still enjoyed by one per cent of the population. Is there an argument for a more radical redistribution of wealth, or would that in itself be unjust and even undermine the economy?
