A prank by nigel calder
' I'm coming, earthlings, and in the darkness of the night I'll frighten the life out of some of you while the rest, straining their eyes, cry out " Look. There. It's Halley's Comet! " '
Halley's Comet is approaching earth again, and so is the ghost of Halley himself. For his punishment after death. Halley has been condemned to ride with the comet which bears his name, first freezing in outer darkness and then frying near the sun. as they orbit together around the solar system. The comet has managed to conceal his true nature from mankind for centuries. He revels in the superstition and bloodshed which always accompany his visits. The last person he wants to be saddled with is an eager scientist out to uncover his deepest secrets. Halley is confident that science has the upper hand in the 1980s. But have the astronomers really found out what comets are? And could they be devising a fearful fate for the comet this time round?
