SF Film Festival: Forbidden Planet

on BBC Two England

Starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis and Robby the Robot

AD 2200: a space cruiser lands on the planet Altair-4, apparently inhabited only by Dr Morbius, his daughter and their faithful servant Robby the Robot. But the planet has a deadly secret which the mysterious Morbius is very reluctant to reveal... Based loosely on Shakesepeare's The Tempest, this influential classic has left its mark on many later SF films.
