For some 1,000 New York children, ballet star Jacques D'Amboise is the Pied Piper of dance. Each June, he leads them in a gala performance resulting from a year of practice and perseverance. His efforts are chronicled in this Academy Award-winning documentary that follows the energetic New York City Ballet principal dancer from auditions to rehearsals at the Lincoln Center and, finally, to the 'Event of the Year'.
