Play School: Useful Box Day

on BBC Two England

A programme for children at home.
In the story chair, Julian d'Albie

Play School this week shows some everyday things from the past.
Carol finds a quill pen in the Useful Box today: Eric rides a penny-farthing bicycle on Thursday. On Friday, Science Day, he shows different ways of lighting-from candles to electricity.
Thursday's picturebook is a reshowing of Lucy and Tom's Day by Shirley Hughes. Julian d'Albie's three stories are 'Farmer Cake and Farmer Rake', 'The Frog that Couldn't Swim', and 'Byard's Leap'.
