An International Chess Tournament. Presented by Jeremy James This third series of The Master Game is the very first international television chess tournament. In nine knockout matches, Europe's greatest Masters of the game compete for the BBC2 Master Game trophy and a first prize of £1,250. This series is also being televised to millions of chess fans throughout Europe.
Round 1, Game 1 Karpov v Hug
The World Champion, Anately Karpov of Russia, who at 26 is a living legend of the chess arena, plays Werner Hug , former Junior Champion of the World and the greatest player Switzerland has ever produced.
