North Face - Ben Nevis

on BBC Two England

Live coverage of an attempt to ski down the North Face.
Jean Charlet is a 29-year-old French mountaineering guide. He is a master of ' extreme' ski-ing, the description applied to one of the most dangerous sports ever invented. There is nothing with which to compare it. ' Downhill ' is a hopelessly inadequate word for the angle of the North Face, and no books on technique exist. Charlet does it because he ' finds it uncomfortable walking down after a strenuous climb'. Commentators
