Lieder Recital
Robert Tear (tenor)
John Constable (piano) The second of six programmes featuring music ranging from chamber to oratorio by this great composer.
Although Beethoven's short works are less well known than his large masterpieces, they are an important reminder of the breadth of his creative talent, indeed the subject matter of his songs is often the same as in his grander works.
Michael Berkeley looks at the background to the songs and talks to Robert Tear about Beethoven's writing for the voice.
Recorded in Margam Orangery.
