Roy Kinnear - an Actor's Life

on BBC Two England

"At five feet five-and-a-half inches, fat and balding there aren't many juvenile leads for you, and so I became a character actor quite quickly." He was born in Wigan in 1934. His death in Spain last month cut short a long and distinguished career in comedy, from Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop to TW3, the RSC and the NT, sitcoms and pantomimes galore.
Eleanor Bron introduces this celebration of a lovely man and a natural comedian with tributes from friends and Roy's own insights into his profession, from the series An Actor's Life for Me. "My mother wanted me to go into the bank. But from the age of 12, 1 never thought of being anything but an actor."
