By Ronald Hayman.
Derek Jacobi makes a rare radio appearance when he reprises his performance as the Swedish playwright August Strindberg , seen at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 1995. In a burnt-out theatre, Strindberg directs a play about his disastrous first marriage to a baroness. As the actress Harriet Bosse (destined to become his third wife) rehearses the part of the baroness, she discovers that Strindberg is trying to write her life for her as well as her role.
