From a record entry of 56 top county bowlers, 14 players have battled through the opening rounds of this year's competition to join defending champions, Gene Bardon and Roy Nicholson , in the chase for a share of the £6,030 prize-money.
Tonight's opening quarter-final features Bob Hitchen and Allan Thompson of Yorkshire, who face the experienced Cumbrians, John Wilts and Ken Brookshaw.
