The Cambria was the last coasting barge in Europe still working under sail alone. She carried anything you cared to put into her hold, from coal to cattle cake.
Her skipper Bob Roberts has never served in a ship with an engine, and never intends to. He's preserved his way of working and endeavours to preserve the charm and traditions of Pinmill, the Suffolk hamlet in which he lives.
"One of the most endearing amateur orators I have seen on the box is Bob Roberts, the barge skipper." (Maurice Wiggin: The Sunday Times)
"...Bob Roberts is a television collector's piece... He's the sort of fellow I could listen to for hours over a pint of beer and not mind much about the beer." (Eastern Daily Press)
