The eternal triangle as a theme would seem to have an infinite number of variations. Tonight's play takes a familiar situation-a marriage broken by the husband's unfaithfulness-but the author Willis Hall can be relied upon to tackle his subject obliquely. For his three principal characters, Penelope, Tony, and Jean, find themselves caught up in the kind of situation in which their true characters are put to the test, and their private weaknesses are laid bare.
This is the second of a Willis Hall trilogy of plays set at the seaside - the first, Last Day in Dreamland, was transmitted in August. The third, A Ride on the Donkey, is to be televised later this month.
