Steve Rider introduces live coverage of the third day's play in the US Masters from the Augusta National course in Georgia. The front runners will have emerged during the first two days' play, and now playfor the coveted Green Jacket- a title won by European golfers seven times in the last 11 years.
Fred Couples led the pack going into last year's third round, and consolidated his lead over the course of the day. But the big surprise in 1998 came from six-times winner Jack Nicklaus , who after a two-under-par round of 70 pulled himself back to tie with Colin Montgomerie , just five shots off the lead.
