The sixth in an eight-part series about music trends during the eighties.
The new wave of hard-rock groups was in full swing in the eighties. Artists who had formerly achieved only a loyal cult-following became the heroes of the stadium rock circuit, commanding the adoration of huge audiences worldwide. Back in Britain, the goth movement adopted and adapted so-called pomp rock, developing it into a musical style to call its own. With performances by Motorhead, ZZ Top, U2, Bruce Springsteen , Bon Jovi , INXS, the Cult and the Mission.
