The Autumn Show
C. H. Middleton and Col. F. R. Durham
Year by year the outstanding horticultural event of the autumn is the Royal Horticultural Society's Show, which was held this year at Olympia from last Wednesday, September 29 to October 1. The demand for space for all classes of exhibits exceeded that at either of the past two shows -the frontage of the exhibits covering nearly two miles. Dahlias, roses, gladioli; stove and greenhouse plants; vegetables and exhibits of fruit ; trees and shrubs ; plants for the herbaceous border and rock garden ; educational exhibits by the staff of the Society's experimental gardens at Wisley. This afternoon C. H. Middleton (broadcasting once again on Sundays) is to bring to the microphone Colonel Durham, President of the Royal Horticultural Society, to discuss the great autumn flower show which has just taken place.
